A message from Harrish Bisnauthsing
“Thirteen years of a Labour government has been thirteen years of broken promises. Rising unemployment, economic recession and wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are not what local people expected from Tony Blair and Gordon Brown.

“Many local people have told me of their disillusionment with the Labour government, Comments such as: “‘Gordon signed the cheques for the Iraq war but cannot find the cash to keep our Post Office open’”, are all too familiar.
“Another familiar comment is that on far too many issues ‘Labour are just like the Conservatives’. People want a real change and the only party that will provide it is the Liberal Democrats.
"If elected as your truly local Member of Parliament I promise to be a strong local champion for our community and will work hard to end years of Labour and Conservative neglect.

The LibDem’s tax reform will ensure that no-one will pay tax on the first £10,000 they earn. Millions of low-earners and pensioners will pay no tax at all.
Those earning more than £10,000 a year will be £700 better off.
2. Investment in our future
LibDem’s believe in quality education, training and skill development for everyone.
Smaller class sizes in schools.
Action for a green environment.
3. Improving the services we all rely on
Nothing matters more than protecting our vital public services.
LibDems’ will put 3000 more police on patrol
We will cut NHS waste so that more can be spent on front-line services.
4. Electoral reform to ensure every vote counts.
Our first-past-the-post system is undemocratic and ensures that most votes count for nothing. It is time for a system suitable for the 21st Century.

Harrish Bisnauthsing - Your local candidate
He is well-known as a local councillor, having been elected to Stamford Town Council in 1987. He has since served on many council committees and was elected Mayor of Stamford in 2002-2003. He now also serves on South Kesteven District Council.
Harrish is a local businessman; following 12 years of service in the Royal Air Force as a Computer and Radar System Engineer, he formed his own IT company. He was later recruited by a national company as a computer engineer, where he works today.
When he has time Harrish enjoys a game of squash, swimming, reading and photography.

As deepest recession bites - Labour struggling to respond
“For all the hopes of a quick recovery, these figures make it clear we are still in the longest and what could yet become the deepest recession on record.
“For all that has been thrown at the economy to try and stimulate a recovery it is clear that massive structural problems remain, particularly in the banking sector. This news adds to serious concerns over the realism of Government plans to deal with the burgeoning public debt. It is critical ministers spell out a credible path as to how they will deal with the deficit. With the legacy of unemployment likely to remain for years after the end of the recession, we need radical measures to avoid repeating the mistakes of the 1990s which left millions on the scrap heap.”With thousands of families across Stamford and Grantham struggling to cope with the recession and unemployment, it is crucial that they see leadership and real action to deal with the affects of recession, providing genuine support, new opportunities and jobs. This Government is struggling to meet the aspirations of those worst affected and that means they are failing people in their hour of need. When leadership and action is expected they get the response of a head-less chicken and that just isn’t good enough.
A Better Deal for our Troops
Labour has taken us into five wars. Afghanistan is going into its ninthyear – almost as long as the two world wars combined. Yet under Labour, 13,000 of the lowest ranking personnel earn less than £17,000. More than 51,000 earn less than the salaries of trainee police and firefighters. General Sir Richard Dannatt, the former Chief of the Army, has said that Britain has “seriously stretched our soldiers to the very limit”.
Former Chief of Defence Staff General Lord Charles Guthrie has said those on the front line feel betrayed by ministers and mandarins in Whitehall. In July Nick Clegg made clear that troops needed more pay and resources and, for the first time, openly questioned what our objectives were in Afghanistan. New Lib Dem policy will give the 13,000 lowest paid a £6,000-a year pay rise, while the salaries of fully-trained privates and lance corporals will rise to £25,000. We will pay for this by cutting desk jobs in the MoD where currently there is one civil servant for every two service personnel.
